One of the most eagerly awaited BMW M models, the arrival of the M3 touring was lauded by the media and instantly the car was assigned the status of the ultimate performance estate.

There are larger and more powerful estate car models, but none which feel as engaging and adjustable to drive on UK roads. This is partly explained by the models comparatively small footprint - belying the 500 litre boot space and associated practicality with only an 85 kg weight penalty over the non-estate body derivatives. Additionally the award winning BMW S58 engine is produces prodigious power output of 510 ps and 478 lb/ft of torque resulting in a 0-62 mph of 3.6 seconds onto an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The M drivers pack allowing a higher limit of 174 mph.

All this power is harnessed by the X drive four wheel drive and an 8 speed DCT transmission with a vast range of M driving configurations including 2wd with no driver aids for the adventurous...
