General description of Make and/or Model of this Motorcar:
The Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder is undoubtedly "peak" Huracan. Launched at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Evo was the first real upgrade and modernisation of this model. The uprated V10 engine from the Performante was married to a titanium exhaust system, rear-wheel steering, matched with some aesthetic updates.
The star of the show is naturally the final celebration of the Huracan’s 5.2-litre V10 naturally-aspirated engine. The engine sound alone is worth the admission price and this model is arguably one of the best open top sportscars made and sadly the final iteration of a dying breed.
Reasonably quiet until you hit 4,500rpm when the titanium valves in the exhaust open up and the intensity and volume of sound change exponentially. The V10 does not flatter to deceive and when it comes on cam performance is predictably furious. The Evo’s 631bhp and 442lb ft of torque result in – 0-62mph dispatched in just 3.1 seconds with a top speed which breaches the 200mph barrier.
That it passed noise homologation when fully exercised is a pleasant mystery and when you have acclimatised to the addictive sound, you realise the car is remarkably practical and due to modern Lamborghini standards of build quality, pefectly capable of regular/daily use.
The ride is remarkably compliant and the versatile driving modes provide an opportunity to access much of the towering performance with a reassuring safety net in the background.
The Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) gearbox as its maker prefers it to be known - shifts gears as quick as you could hope for and the extravagant aluminium paddles are a tactlie delight to use.
The reality is that this is a thrilling Lamborghini in the traditional sense of the word, with dramatic styling and performance in abundance, accompanied by a V10 soundtrack that makes every journey an experience. The end of an era which future battery supplemented powertrains are unlikely to surpass.
