General description of Make and/or Model of this Motorcar:
The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta the replacement for the 599 GTB, and resulted in a much quicker and more enjoyable to drive at low speed car over it's predecessor.
Offering benefits of being a GT and a supercar, the front-engined configuration produced superior internal packaging and refinement with superlatived dynamic ability. Smaller and 70kg lighter than the 599 GTB, it also produced more downforce combined with a lower centre-of-gravity. The V12 was re-engineered to produce more power, rev higher and to ensure much quicker throttle response. It produced 730bhp at 8250rpm (max revs @ 8700rpm) and 509lb ft at 6000rpm.
The considerable power went through a 7-speed dual clutch transaxle and Ferrari’s E-Diff, opposed to the 599's single clutch and conventional mechanical limited slip differential. Predictably performance in real road conditions was at the pinnacle of any GT with 0-62mph in 3.1-seconds, 0-124mph in 8.5-seconds, with a top speed of over 211mph. To put this in perspective, the acceleration was superior to that of a McLaren F1 and around Fiorano it’s lap time was lower than an Enzo or even the 599 GTO.
Today it still remains a superlative GT Supercar with a rare blend of civility to match it's ferocious performance.
