Work Carried Out in January 2020 by DK Engineering (bill part of history file)
- Remove all residue from old bonding agent on dash panel. Secure warning lights into dashboard with glue.
- Remove spare wheel and spare wheel compartment, attend to stiff heater controls, adjust angle of cable and lubricate inner cable, find some improvement, find diverter valve pivot to be rusted into the plastic causing it to still be stiff to operate.
- Remove all wheels and arrange for fitted of new year 2019 tyres.
- Renew screen washer bag lid, add screen wash mixture.
- Remove front undertray and heater hose, drain all coolant, disconnect header tank pipes and remove header tank, send header tank to specialist for overhaul. Refit overhauled tank and reconnect pipes. Attend to cause of coolant leaking through inlet manifold studs. Remove airbox, remove engine compartment lid, strip fuel hoses and remove carburettors from inlet manifold. Remove inlet manifold and water manifold, strip old gasket material. Find coolant has dripped into inlet and onto back of the valves, identify this to be cause of poor engine running and apparent ‘flooding’. Clean all mating surfaces and apply thick sealant. Fit new gasket and inlet manifolds and refit carburettors onto engine. Fill cooling system with coolant mixture, bleed system. Run engine and visually inspect for evidence of coolant leaks, find no further leaks to be present.
- Attend to gear selector contacting heater pipe, loosen fastenings on all heater pipework, as required, adjust pipework to new angle through firewall, resecure in position and check for contact with the gear selector.
- Remove driver’s seat and place on the bench. Find release handle for the slider mechanism to have been forcibly turned in the wrong direction, resulting in it becoming bent. Reshape handle and locate spring back into place. Ideally, this seat will need the frame removing and rebuilt with strong spot welds in place to strengthen it. Refit seat.
- Road test car.
- Valet car in preparation for storage.
